Work Time is Flying

I'm four weeks into the internship and I can't believe how fast everything is going. It feels like just yesterday I was taking finals and preparing to move. But here I am, with only seven weeks left of work. In the last few weeks, I have picked up a lot of steam and I actually feel somewhat confident, although that still alternates with moments of panic and frustration. But that's to be expected. After all, this is a learning experience that hopefully turns into a full-time opportunity. And already, I've learned more than I imagined.

While I'm here, I am working on a project that could actually be launched into the market. I'm working with everyone, from packaging to finance, and I have the ability to determine where the project goes. It's fascinating, but stressful too. I have really been given the reins, and I am expected to take initiative to get things done. The best part about it is that it's actually fun. This is a good sign for my future.

At the same time, we just received our course schedules for the fall, which was a shock to the system. The school-work-school whiplash is odd, and while I'm enjoying work, I am also looking forward to getting back to Owen.  There is still more I need to learn in the classroom and from my peers.  I'm also looking forward to enjoying every last minute of being in graduate school.  It's something I don't think anyone can truly appreciate, but the thought of actually having to wake up to go to work every Friday is slightly depressing.

The next month or so holds some interesting things for me – meetings, decisions, ideas, presentations, not to mention a day trip to Wal-Mart HQ in Bentonville, Arkansas.  August will be here in no time, and I'll be leaving with a great experience, and hopefully a job offer.
