Welcome once again to Wiki Wednesdays, Clear Admit’s weekly review of MBA interview reports added to the Clear Admit Wiki! In the past week, we’ve received many new accounts of interviews at schools such as Berkeley / Haas, CMU / Tepper, and Michigan / Ross. Today we’re featuring a Round 2 applicant’s report of a recent Wharton interview with an alum:
“The interview took place at a coffee shop near the alumni office. The interviewing tone was casual. The interviewer took a lot of note (4 pages long note) from each question he asked.
After some introduction, he asked me the following question:
- Walk me through your resume. (He had a lot of following question about my work.)
- Why do you need MBA?
- Why Wharton?
Then, he told me that he will ask some structure questions and read the question from a piece of paper. He mentioned that there are several questions but he will only pick some which seem appropriate. By the way, here are the list of questions:
- Please tell me the time when you had to accomplish an important goal and had to deal with the conflict between team members at the same time.
- Please tell me the time when you tried to completed a task and you felt that other people in the team focus less on the task.
- Please tell me the time when you had to convince some people who, at first, didn’t agreed with your idea.
Then he asked me whether I have anything that want to tell him but he didn’t ask?
Finally, he gave me a chance to ask some questions about Wharton.
The interview lasted around 1 hour.”

The most helpful and informative reports usually include the following information:
- Date/Admissions Round
- Description of visit and/or interview atmosphere
- Type of interview (alum vs. adcom, blind vs. application-based)
- List of interview questions
- Commentary (What did you think of the interview? What surprised you? What didn’t surprise you? What might you conclude about the school based on this experience?)
