Welcome once again to Wiki Wednesday, where we set a spotlight on MBA interview accounts recently added to the Clear Admit Wiki. This week, we’ve received reports for schools including Northwestern / Kellogg, Columbia, Chicago / Booth and Berkeley / Haas. Today we’re highlighting questions faced by a candidate for NYU / Stern during a Round 1 interview with a member of the admissions committee:
“I interviewed on campus. The interviews were well organized and ran on time. I showed up 15 minutes prior, and was asked to take a seat. My interviewer called me into her office and asked the following questions (there were 1 or 2 others that I can’t remember, but this was basically it):
- Tell me more about your interest in (specific activity I brought to light in my application).
- Tell me about your background?
- What are your goals?
- How does your current experience feed into your goals?
- What courses do you plan to take outside of your specialization?
- What would you do if, between your first and second year, you didn’t get an internship?
- If you were to write an autobiography in 40 years, what would it be called?
- Do you have any questions for me?
The last two questions threw me a little, but the tone of the interview was relaxed so I was able to handle them (had the interview been more pressured, I think I would have stumbled). Overall a very positive experience. Fingers crossed!”

The most helpful and informative reports usually include the following information:
- Date/Admissions Round
- Description of visit and/or interview atmosphere
- Type of interview (alum vs. adcom, blind vs. application-based)
- List of nterview questions
- Commentary (What did you think of the interview? What surprised you? What didn’t surprise you? What might you conclude about the school based on this experience?)
