So I’m sure many of you are wondering a mixture of these questions:
- What do you do in Hanover, NH for fun?
- Are there bars or clubs?
- Is there a main area of attractions?
Well, I’m here to tell you that Hanover NH is in fact more of a metropolitan city than New York City!
Now that I’ve come back to reality, I’ll say that part of the experience here is the different social scene that is experienced here at Tuck. I’m 99% confident that between 270 and 280 of my classmates will be back in a major city following graduation (sorry, studying for a stats final right now), so coming to Tuck is a good break from city life (in my opinion). The town is quaint and there are a number of local watering holes we Tuckies frequent on the weekends (sometimes the weekdays too). Additionally, there is never a shortage of events that take place here at Tuck. We had a Mexican Independence Party, and this past weekend several T’12s went to the Moosilauke Lodge for a nice getaway from Hanover. The scenery was beautiful and we had access to a Dartmouth owned lodge.
There are also a number of more intimate things that occur here, such as small group dinners where you meet other classmates in both classes, as well as Tuck Tails, where we get together to unwind after a long week over some nice adult beverages (coke and pepsi only).
Overall, the social scene at Tuck offers one a different vibe for those students coming from a city lifestyle (which I assume is the majority of applicants). However, there are a number of outlets here at Tuck, and the environment here is one of selection, so all the students you’re with will be in the same shoes as you. I will also say that some of the experiences here at Tuck CAN NOT be replicated. I urge you all to come check out the scene for yourself if you have the time! We’d love to show you around!
