If you have been following my blog and especially if you’re anal like me : ), you’re probably wondering what ever happened to the bonus and promotion that I was all too quick to bragged about not so long ago. Well, I feel like I should explain. My original plan was to use bonus day as the time I would also make my case for a promotion. The reason is because I just think that my chances of success would be higher that way since that’s also the time for my review. Anyway, it turns out the date for our bonuses have finally been set. And it won’t be till August! Don’t ask me why that far ahead or that late. The powers that be must have their reasons. By that time, I’ll probably have my Columbia application submitted by then. I have to admit I was hoping to have the bonus and potential promotion in hand before I apply. That way, I’ll be a stronger candidate. But I guess it just wasn’t meant to be…
I also have thought about taking my chances and asking for a promotion now. But my gut tells me that I should wait and stick to the original plan. Another option would be to submit my application after the bonus and *crosses*fingers* the promotion too. But if I’ve learned anything thus far, it’s that those things may just be delayed even further. So my plan will be to just submit as soon as the application is available. Then come bonus day, I’ll ask for the promotion. And if I do get it, maybe I can submit an update to the Admissions Committee.
NYU has announced their Round 1 deadline. As expected, the application will be available in mid-August. And Round 1 deadline is November 15, 2009. http://w4.stern.nyu.edu/admissions/fulltime/applyingtostern.cfm?doc_id=296 This will give me roughly three months to work on my application after Columbia. I think that’s more than enough time to visit the school, talk to students, research, write essays, etc.
