I posted a few weeks ago about my decision to abstain from setting up cable services in my apartment this year. My TV (an old-school cathode ray tube!) sits idlly in its cabinet with no apparent purpose. What the TV doesn’t know is that it’s doing me a tremendous favor by staying silent.
Also on the team of contributors to my academic success by way of sitting on the bench: wireless internet. Crazy, I know. I didn’t blog about it earlier this semester because I didn’t think I would have the constitution to resist setting up access but, here we are, well into the semester and still no connection. Of course, I’m not abstaining completely. I’m writing this post from the e-Lounge in my apartment complex, which I use for emergency after-hours internet access (yes, failure to blog is now considered a state of emergency). I also have ample access to high-speed wireless when on campus.
So, what result from my technology-deprived abode? Unrivaled productivity. It blows my mind how much I’ve been able to get done. Not only am I caught up in all of my classes, I am more than a week ahead in two of them.
