Executive MBA programs are under the gun these days as budget-conscious companies that still sponsor promising managers demand more in the way of a clear return on their investment, the Wall Street Journal reports in its newest ranking of the 25 top EMBA programs, released yesterday.
Focusing on the needs of both students and sponsoring companies helped Wharton School secure its No. 1 spot in this year’s rankings, up from No. 2 in 2008, says WSJ; the school had high satisfaction ratings from students and companies, and top scores for the quality of its curriculum and faculty.
Washington University’s Olin School appears for the first time in the WSJ‘s survey with an impressive debut at No. 2, due in large part to tuning into students’ career needs by adding a full-time career counselor and a career-coaching component to its curriculum.
Rounding out the top five, in descending order, are Thunderbird School of Global Management, the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
