OH-OH OH-OH -OH-OOOOOOOOOOOOO

I thought this was an appropriate way to kick off the MLS season (for those who don’t know, or don’t care enough to know….MLS is the soccer (football) league here in the States). I am a HUGE soccer fan and I couldn’t be any happier that the season starts tonight, when the newest team in the league (Philly) takes on Seattle in Seattle (ESPN 2 @ 9:30). Neither of these teams mean anything to me…in fact, I pretty much hate Philly (worst sports fans ever) and I am apathetic towards Seattle (coffee snobs). I support Red Bull New York (which plays in NJ, ironic…I know). I don’t just support them, I am a member of the supports group called the ESC (Empire Supporters Club). Pretty much what that means is that we stand the whole game and sing songs and cheer on the Red Bulls. This year is especially exciting because the Red Bulls have a new stadium, Red Bull Arena, which is supposed to be the best soccer-specific stadium in the States.

The team was REALLY bad last year, but they have a new coach, some new players and optimism reigns supreme this season. The first game at RB Arena is this Saturday at 7 and it is against the Chicago Fire (a rival). The game is sold out, with 25,000 fans expected. Chicago is supposed to have over 200 fans make the trip to RBA, so the atmosphere should be great! A fantastic chance for the Red Bulls to open the new arena on the right foot. I can’t wait for it to be Saturday!

P.S. Hey, Chicago…deep dish sucks! (ESC 1 – Chicago Fans 0)
