Summer Firm becomes The Firm on January 4, 2011.
This is fantastic news as I had previously been told to expect to start in April 2011. Some of my fellow summers (litigators, of course) will be able to start a couple months earlier. But that doesn’t bother me at all. I’m beyond delighted to have the details of the offer in hand. Now I can busy myself preparing a budget, looking for a sublease, and studying for the bar exam without distraction.
I have committed to some interim projects with my part-time employer up through October, but am thinking of taking a trip to New Zealand and Australia in November or December. I always hoped and dreamed that I would be able to take a post-bar exam trip down under, but gave up on the idea this past year given all of the insanity of the legal job market. If I really pinch my pennies, I may just be able to do it after all 
But first, I’ve got a final to study for and a paper to finish before graduation.
