The Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor has named an interim dean to lead the school until Alison Davis-Blake becomes the school’s new permanent dean in August. Eugene (Gene) Anderson, senior associate dean for academic affairs, will serve as interim dean from July 1st until Davis-Blake steps into her new role on August 22, 2011, the school announced this week.
Anderson has been a professor of marketing at Ross since 1989 and was appointed senior associate dean for academic affairs in 2010. In his time at Ross, he has played an important role in the design and launch of the executive MBA program, the revision of the full-time MBA core curriculum and the debut of several joint degree programs with other schools at Michigan. He has also guided the Ross School’s efforts to position itself as a leader in action-based learning at both the MBA and undergraduate level, Phil Hanlon, U-M provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, said in a statement announcing Anderson’s new appointment.
Anderson will turn over the reins of the business school to Davis-Blake on August 22, 2011, when she official begins her term as school dean. Davis-Blake, the current dean of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, was appointed last month to become Ross’s new permanent dean, making her one of very few women to fill the top role at the world’s most premiere business schools.
