Perhaps the most notable event on campus this weekend was The Scavanger Hunt, a fancy dress festival of fun and frolics. Well, one of my fellow bloggers can fill you in on that one. I was otherwise engaged, playing in Tuck Rugby’s first game of the season, against Yale Graduate School Rugby (included SOM, Med, Law, Forestry, etc).
Many of my teammates were playing rugby for the first time. We fell behind early against a strong, and more experienced, Yale team. What Tuckies lacked in experience, they certainly made up for in enthusiasm, quick learning, and absolute determination to support their team. We scored one try on the stroke of half time and two in the second half to take the lead, and held on to win 17-10. I’m still on a high!
Next week we play Vermont Law School; the following week, Dartmouth alumni; and the week following that, we’re off to NYC to play in a tournament hosted by Columbia. I can’t wait to get the green and white hoops back on and get on the field alongside the fine group of gentleman with whom I will spend this season in rucks, mauls and bars.
