Trivia Tuesday: Anderson’s Management Communications Program

Hello and welcome to our weekly edition of Trivia Tuesday, in which we take an in-depth look into the elements that differentiate the leading MBA programs from each other. This week we’re going to examine UCLA Anderson’s Management Communications Program as profiled in the Clear Admit School Guide to UCLA Anderson.

“Anderson’s Management Communication Program uses lectures, case studies, coaching and group projects to teach students the ins and outs of effectively communicating with superiors, subordinates and clients. At the core of the program is the elective course Management 422: Analysis and Communication, taught each spring by Professor Janis Forman, who founded the program 25 years ago. The course teaches students to link critical thinking to strong persuasion and pointed advocacy, such that they are able to successfully deploy their business skills in the workplace.

Beyond Management 422, the Management Communication Program employs trained second-year MBA candidates as Communications TAs who function much as communications consultants in major corporations by offering guidance on written projects and oral presentations. These TAs are available to assist students with their assignments in the Marketing Management and Business Plan Development courses, as well as throughout the Applied Management Research project. In addition, the Communications TAs hold general workshops on writing and presenting skills and work with students to develop presentations for case and new venture competitions.”
