So during this so called “waiting phase,” I’ve been trying to keep busy. In a way, the wait can be one of the hardest parts of the whole application. I am sort of proud of myself – I’m handling this phase of the process pretty well. I’ve heard horror stories from previous applicants about how they were going out of their minds, checking everyday to see if there’s any news and resisting the temptation to call admissions just to check the status. The latter is a definite no-no. Nobody likes an annoying obsessive stalker calling everyday. Did I just describe myself? Jk : ). Luckily, I’m holding up. To take my mind off things, I’ve been going out with friends and even had brunch with my new Columbia alum friend. Friday night turned out to be a long, but fun night. What initially was just supposed to be a quick drink with a friend became an all-nighter, bar-hopping and celebrating random people’s birthdays. It was one of those typical fast New York City nights – everything was a blur. Good times. As for my Columbia friend, he’s a pretty good guy and genuinely very helpful. I get a good vibe from him. Are we like bffs now? Anyway, my mandatory two-week vacation starts next week. For those that don’t know, it’s a SEC law, stating that employees who work in a sensitive position, especially on the trading desk, must take two weeks in a row off. It basically helps to ensure that the company can function without you and that you’re not stealing money. I really don’t have plans to go away except to visit my brother and my nieces in Philly and maybe a short weekend trip to Cape Cod. That reminds me, I need to pick up some gifts for the little ones this week. So starting next week, I probably won’t be blogging much. Of course unless some new development comes across from Columbia.
