Economics is done. Managerial Accounting is done. Strategic Decision Analysis, Integrated Marketing Communications, and, most importantly, the job search are all done. And just like that, three semesters and a successful internship are in the books. So, here I sit a few weeks after final exams eyeing the fourth and final business school semester, and, I must admit, my feelings are a bit mixed at the moment. May 8th 2011 will mark the end of an amazing two year journey; one that has not only introduced me to a host of new methods for dealing with ambiguous business situations, but has also placed me in classrooms and study groups with folks that will be a part of my friendship circle for years to come.
But all good things must come to an end. Although, the times I’ve had here at GBS will go down as some of the greatest of my life, I would be less than honest if I didn’t admit that there is a part of me that is looking forward to having those direct deposit elves visiting me again. In the meantime, there is still work to do. I have still 4 classes, a mid-semester module trip to Prague, Budapest and Bucharest and GMSC team guide responsibilities standing between that diploma and me.
So my plan is to spend this holiday break (which could very well be the last month long holiday break I ever receive) catching up with friends in Atlanta and Charlotte and then family in Dallas and Hawaii while also attempting to refuel my tank for this last round of quizzes and case reviews. Once January 12th rolls around it will be time to crack open the books again, but, in the meantime, I’m just hoping that Santa has some extra focus for me somewhere in the back of his sleigh.
