Today was the day of my foot surgery. I thought it was kind of funny that the surgical center is right by my old Junior High School down in Gramercy. I haven’t been down there in ages – good times. Anyway, I got to the center around 10:30AM. After checking in and getting prepped (including first putting on the hospital gown backwards…doh!), and answering the same questions over and over again by different surgeons, they were finally ready for me, which was around noon. They strapped me down in the operating room and that’s when I became a little nervous. But as soon as the anesthesiologist worked his magic through my IV, I was out cold. When I woke up an hour or so later, they were done. It’s amazing how time flies when you’re unconscious. They gave me some water and I rested while the drugs wore off. According to my doctor/surgeon, the surgery was a success. I also asked if I could have the stuff they took out. She said it’s just a piece of fleshy tissue, so no. Oh well. I also have to go back to see her on Monday for a follow-up. The hardest part of today for me was that I couldn’t eat or drink anything after midnight before the surgery. So obviously, when I was all done around 2ish, I was starving and cranky. Like I said, I’m a foodie. So now, I’ll be on crutches for the next 3-4 weeks, which I’m still trying to get use to. I’m definitely taking a cab to NYU on Tuesday for my interview. Anyway, happy weekend everyone!
