Recently, the JumboTests team [info:'toefl-books' reviewed two of the most popular study guides for the TOEFL]. Kaplan’s TOEFL iBT, and Barron’s How To Prepare for the TOEFL. But, as a special bonus for our newsletter subscribers, here are a few tips that didn’t make it into the review!
- Kaplan’s CD-ROM is not compatible with Windows Vista. Books with CD-ROM’s can be useful, but consider the system requirements before buying.
- Barron’s CD-ROM provides audio practice only. The most frequent reader complaint about this book was the lack of tests available on the computer, as that is the most common format for the test.
- Books work best for self motivated learners. If you need some outside encouragement, study books may not be for you. Consider a class, or [test:'toefl-sample-online-tests' online practice tests] that let you compare your scores with other test takers.
