Should you wait for the updated MBA essays or start writing ?

So, you are thinking of applying in this upcoming fall for top MBA programs but many schools, including Wharton, Chicago, NYU, UCLA and others didn’t publish their deadlines or essays.

For applicants who are anxious to get started, it’s a dilemma – should they start writing their essays, based on the current version or should they wait?
The answer, as you will learn in many MBA classes is…”depends!” – on your personality and your schedule.

For the busy bees:
If you need to build a momentum and feel progress, look at the current questions and start thinking about them. Come up with ideas and stories relating to the questions, and even if the Admissions committee decide to create a whole set of questions, you can leverage the ideas into other essays and interview questions.

For the undecided:
Not sure if you want to apply to a specific school? not sure how many school you are going to apply to? Don’t worry, that’s normal. Just save the link for the deadline/essays page for your tentative school list.

For the procrastinators:
You are going to get everything done in the last minute, and there are 2 things you can do about it: nothing, or let someone else help you. Find an outsider (consultant, friend, partner) who will help you put a structure in the application process that you can easily follow. This will prevent you from finding it in the last moment that you’re going to miss the deadline because your recommenders didn’t have enough time or you are scheduled to take the GMAT 2 days post the deadline.
