About a week ago, I received word that work was sending me to the Bay Area for a month. I was told to be ready to leave in a week’s time. It sure seemed like they were serious about sending me.
After all, this was exactly how things went down when I was sent to the Tokyo office. The news came via last-minute notice, light on logistical detail, but it panned out. So I went into prep-to-be-gone-for-a-month mode, which included, among other things, dropping the Japanese class. Sayonara!
Oh, what a foolish little first-year associate I am.
You see where this is going, right? The firm changed their mind. I will still be shipped to a different office (permanently), but it will happen a little later… still soon, but later! How soon? Well, no one seems to be able to pinpoint that for me.
This means that I dropped my Japanese class when I could have squeezed in at least two more sessions. What a waste!
