Dear Sir/Madam or filter that looks for keywords:
I am a current student at Tuck and I am very interested inworking for your company. I believe Ipossess many of the attributes your company seeks.
Leadership: I have become adept at taking leadershiproles and delegating various roles. Asa leader, I would love to delegate the writing of this letter to someone else. Yes, there are plenty of companies looking tohire Tuckies and that’s definitely a great thing. However, each company requires a resume, a coverletter, and an online application. Frankly, I’m exhausted from DecisionScience and I would like more time to figure out what a Poissant distributionmeans.
Proven Experience: I am a multi-talented Tuck student. We have had two snowfalls and in my opinion Ican shovel snow faster than anyone applying to your company. Please tell methis is the peak snowfall season. Wait,we are not even close to peak season? I also consider myself efficient. I have cut down my commute to school from 6minutes to 4 minutes. When I’m feeling adventurous, Itackle the three traffic lights on Main St. and take a nice drive around theDartmouth green.
Analytical Skills: Thanks to Capital Markets, I can hedge anything. I canhedge a Byrne dining hall bagel with a muffin. I can also find arbitrageopportunities throughout Hanover. Forexample, a chocolate croissant at the bakery is selling for 20 cents less thanthe chocolate croissant in the Baker library cafe. Well, not really but if it were I would know what to do. I will buy chocolate croissants at the lessexpensive location until the arbitrage opportunity no longer exists. I had never had a chocolate croissant priorto attending Tuck so trust me this something everyone needs to know. Additionally, I consider my quantitativeskills top-notch, but in Leading Organizations I learned that 4 + 2 does notequal 6.
Time-ManagementSkills: A few weeks ago, Tuckhosted an international party where students serve dishes from their respectivecountry. The Tuck community is so diversethat there were many tables. Aftertwenty minutes of making my way through half of the tables and sampling the cuisine, Iwas no longer hungry but still had the other half to visit. I learned that I must pace myself. Since, my time-management and pacing skillshave improved and now I feel better prepared for the next international partyin 2012.
In summary, I would like to work for your company and Ibelieve what I have learned in Fall A and B will be assets to your company. Fall A and B have been great and I lookforward to the winter term. We have finals coming up so it would help if youcould give me the job before Monday because that will certainly ease theburden. Finally, please hire me so Idon’t have to write another cover letter.
Sincerely,
Tuck Student
