When I checked my mail today, there was a letter from the Committee of Bar Examiners:
Dear [Applicant]:
This acknowledges that the initial processing of your Moral Character Application has been completed, and it has been forwarded to your analyst. The analyst assigned to your file is [Analyst].
Most Applications for Determination of Moral Character can be processed within a minimum of 180 days. . . .
Wow. I submitted my Moral Character application on February 26th and my file was assigned to an analyst as of July 21st.
Some of my friends back in California submitted their applications in the fall and received their positive determination in January. Should have submitted my application sooner! UT sent out reminders of the Texas Bar deadlines while we were in law school, but I was too often blissfully ignorant of what would be necessary to register and apply in California. It will work out in the end, but it would be great to have had my Moral Character Application clear before sitting for the bar exam.
