It’s Preview Weekend at McCombs. The prospective MBAs started to arrive yesterday. Dressed to the 9s, with wide eyes, bright smiles, and name tags, they reminded me of the excitement of starting grad school years ago.
McCombs has scheduled programming this weekend and the weather has cooperated with our effort to show off our school and our city. But, whether it’s the Law School or McCombs hosting a Preview Weekend, at times like these I’m thinking most about the admitted students who aren’t able to travel to campus for these events. I was one of those students.
When I couldn’t visit a campus or didn’t know any current students at the school, I would turn to the blogosphere in hopes of finding a current student’s perspective. There are limits to the usefulness of a current student’s blog–after all it’s just one person’s perspective on a school–but I was tremendously thankful for the window of insight student bloggers provided when I was trying to decide where I would go to school. I started this blog to return the favor.
This is why it feels great to have my contribution to the MBA blogosphere recognized by ClearAdmit. Thank you, ClearAdmit, for selecting me as a Best of Blogging Nominee for 2009-2010.
And if you’re an admitted student who wasn’t able to make it out to your program’s Preview Weekend, you might want to check out ClearAdmit’s nominee list, which includes applicant and student blogs from all over the world!
**Special shout-out to fellow McCombs blogger Metal, who also made the nominee list!**
