Read this interesting poker/wall-street article on Bloomberg. The article saids that top professional poker players are naturally good traders because of their “rational approach toward risk, speedy decision-making under pressure, discipline and a well-trained memory.” See, it’s not all just about gambling : ). Logically, firms like hedge funds are hiring such talent from poker sites. I somewhat wrote about this before in previous entries (WSOP Champion and Ex-Bear Stearns guy) and I completely agree. I also think this profession would translate well into an MBA. It may be a bit untraditional but at the same time a perfect fit. Winning a WPT Circuit bracelet would be a hell of a story to tell for the essays. That would pretty much be a guarantee into any top business school. Now all I need is someway to finance my bankroll. Anyone feeling generous? : )
