Penn / Wharton MBA Interview Report 2011

As Round 2 interview season rolls on, check out one of the latest additions to the Clear Admit Wiki.  A candidate for the Wharton School shared the following interview experience with an alumni:

“The interview took place at a coffee shop near the alumni office. The interviewing tone was casual. The interviewer took a lot of notes (4 pages long note) from each question he asked.

After some introduction, he asked me the following question;

  1. Walk me through your resume. (He had a lot of following question about my work.)
  2. Why do you need MBA?
  3. Why Wharton?

Then, he told me that he will ask some structure questions and read the question from a piece of paper. He mentioned that there are several questions but he will only pick some which seem appropriate. By the way, here are the list of questions;

  1. Please tell me the time when you had to accomplish an important goal and had to deal with the conflict between team members at the same time.
  2. Please tell me the time when you tried to completed a task and you felt that other people in the team focus less on the task.
  3. Please tell me the time when you had to convince some people who, at first, didn’t agreed with your idea.
  4. Then he asked me whether I have anything that want to tell him but he didn’t ask?

Finally, he gave me a chance to ask some questions about Wharton.  The interview lasted around 1 hour.”
