Happy Monday everyone. Boy was it cold this morning! This weekend, I started unpacking my winter clothes. I even wore my winter black peacock coat this morning – you know, the typical slim dark NYC look that you see everywhere in Manhattan during this time of year. At least it’s warm. I guess this means it’s time to put the flip flops away : (.
My NYU essays are done. Right now, I’m just waiting for some friends/proof readers of mine to get back to me with some feedback on them. My plan is to submit by the first week of November, which is plenty of time before the 15th deadline. I’ve also been thinking about my backup plan lately. In case everything goes to hell and my BSchool plans fall through, I need to figure out what my options or as they luv to say in poker, outs are. Should I try to improve my application and reapply? Or should I just give up…One thing is certain though. I have to get out of where I am right now! Don’t get me wrong. It’s been a pretty good run so far these past two years at the company. I came aboard when it was a start-up and believe I contributed much to the growth of the business, while learning much more than I expected. But with all the recent restructuring and people leaving, everything’s been pretty much kaput lately. Projects I want to work on has been put on indefinite hold and everything is slow or at a standstill. The powers that be have basically left everyone hanging. Needless to say, morale is at an all time low and incentive is pretty much out the window. If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m the type of person who likes to be productive and I just don’t feel that way here anymore. It’s time to move on. I’m not sure what I’ll do if BSchool doesn’t work out. Maybe I’ll try to look for another job; hopefully it’ll be a lateral move. Or maybe I’ll take some time off to volunteer, maybe for the Peace Corps. Or maybe I’ll go into the restaurant business with my brother. He knows the industry and I know financials. I can bartend! Whatever the future may hold, I guess I’ll just have to take it one day at a time.
