The office transfer is well underway. My firm profile, telephone extension, and timekeeping software now point to the City office. I still have a laptop dock in the Beach office (came in handy this weekend), but that’s about it.
My experience in City office has been good so far. Most importantly, I have work to do. Enough work to make my hours for the week. And that, dear readers, hasn’t happened since I was in Tokyo.
It’s one helluva commute: 3 hrs, 15 minutes from door to door (each way). One evening last week, a partner found me in my office at 8pm and gave me a “quick” research assignment. The assignment took only an hour, but I missed the 8:30pm train and had to wait around in the City for the next train at 10:10pm. I got home after midnight. Brutal. Each day I remind myself that it’s only until the end of June. I. Can. Do. This.
Needless to say, I’m feeling particularly motivated to make the move happen. I finally got the movers to return my calls (busy time of year for them). They’ll come out for walk-throughs next Friday. I have a leasing appointment on Monday during my lunch break. Progress.
