Off to a Terrible Start…

I got the inevitable ding from Wharton today, which is truly depressing because I thought the app was strong enough to at least warrant an interview from my 1a choice (Chicago Booth being 1b).

I’ve been putting off my NYU app quite a bit now and constantly checking my email for that coveted interview invite. Alas, it never came and it’s time to move on. Chicago is now #1a on the hitlist and the NYU app will finally get some deserved attention.

Oh crap! NYU is due in 2 days! I need to cut 60 words out of my 2nd essay and finish up the “creative” third essay. Should be doable by Saturday midnight.

For those of you who didn’t know, BusinessWeek came out with their 2008 rankings. They only release rankings every other year. The top 10 in order are:

1. Chicago Booth
2. HBS
3. Kellogg
4. Wharton
5. Michigan Ross
6. Stanford
7. Columbia
8. Duke
9. MIT Sloan
10. Berkeley Haas

The big jumpers this year were Cornell (#11) and Duke (#8). HBS jumped to #2. The big loser this year was Yale, which dropped all the way to #24. Ouch!

At least some solace knowing that Wharton dropped 2 spots hehe (just kidding!). To all of those who received invites from Wharton, good luck!
