NYU Stern Now Accepts GRE

The New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business will for the first time accept Graduate Record Exam (GRE) test scores from candidates applying to its full- and part-time MBA programs for their Fall 2010 class. The school has previously required Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) test scores, but now applicants can submit either one.

“This move ensures that our business education is even more accessible to high quality applicants from all professional backgrounds, all around the world,” said Anika Davis Pratt, assistant dean of MBA Admissions. “Now applicants weighing post-graduate program options won’t need to study for and take an additional exam, should they choose business school as their next step,” continued Pratt.

NYU Stern joins Harvard Business School (HBS), Stanford Graduate School of Business, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management, and several others that recently began accepting the GRE for MBA admissions.

Since 1954, the GMAT has been the standard for business school admissions. Today, these MBA programs hope that accepting the GRE–which students typically write to apply to of graduate programs in liberal arts & sciences–will attract a broader applicant pool.
