Thanks everyone for their well thought-out input. You all have shown to me time and time again that the bschool community is truly one of a kind. So far, the names that were suggested were Chicago, MIT, Wharton, Cornell, Ross, Duke, Haas, Stanford, Michigan, Dartmouth, Texas. My apologies if I missed any. And after a bit of research and careful consideration of the list of schools, I have narrowed them down to a couple that peaked my interest. My criterion for the selection process is three-fold. The obvious first is the school itself – does it meet my career needs? The second are my chances. Round 2 is harder to get into than Round 1. Taking that big factor into mind, would it even be worth it for me to apply? I don’t want to put in all that work for naught. Third are the essays. Some schools like Wharton have crazy long essays, something along the lines of 3,250 words in all. I don’t mind the work, but as someone who prides himself on the quality of his work, I also like to take my time. One especial pet peeve of mine is handing in second-rate material…ugh – that is a definite no-no. And given the holiday season, I don’t think I would be able to meet the January deadline. And to be quite honest, I don’t think my life is interesting enough to fill in over 3,000 words of autobiography. Mere mortals like myself did not spend the past two years building a village in a third world country somewhere. But kudos to those who did – sorry for going off tangent. Anyway, the list is narrowed down to Chicago Booth and MIT Sloan. Again, they are just initial feelers. I’m still researching and looking into whether I can schedule visits and all that fun stuff. But I would like to reiterate that I still feel real positive about NYU – I’m already researching and preparing for the interview *knock on wood*. Round 2 research into these other schools would keep me busy and help me keep my sanity while waiting. And again, thanks everyone for their help.
