MIT Sloan Launches New Partnership with Leading Turkish Business School

MIT Sloan School of Management has entered into a five-year partnership with one of Turkey’s leading business schools, the Financial Times reports. The collaboration, with Sabanci School of Management in Istanbul, is designed to strengthen management education in Turkey and further extend MIT Sloan’s international reach. Sloan has similar programs with schools in other countries including China and Portugal.

The partnership with Sabanci will include a range of student and faculty exchanges between the schools, the FT reports. Specifically, 50 of Sabanci’s Executive MBA students will each spend two weeks on MIT Sloan’s campus learning about the U.S. business environment, visiting Boston-area companies and attending lectures. The Sabanci students also will complete a Global Business Project through MIT Sloan’s Leadership Center.

As another element of the international collaboration, Sabanci MBA students – like students from other schools that collaborate with Sloan – will be eligible to apply for admission to MIT’s Master of Science in Management Studies degree programs. And MIT Sloan faculty will teach on Sabanci’s Istanbul campus.

According to Sabanci Dean Nakiye Avdan Boyacigiller, the Turkish school hopes the partnership with Sloan will help it to draw a more international student body. “By entering into a long-term collaboration with MIT Sloan, we hope not only to provide superior programs for our Turkish students, but also to increase our attraction for students from the broader region,” Boyacigiller told the FT.
