In anticipation of the big move back to California at the end of November, I have been slowly sorting through my belongings–organizing, donating, and discarding as need be. I’ve been handsomely rewarded for my work with the discovery a Milk + Honey gift certificate long presumed lost!
Milk + Honey is an Austin day spa founded by a McCombs MBA alumna. The business started with one location in the 2nd Street district and has since added a hair salon a few doors down and another spa location at the Hill Country Galleria. While I’ve never been to the salon, I have visited both the downtown and Hill Country Galleria locations to recharge. (Generally, I prefer Milk + Honey’s Hill Country Galleria location for its free parking lot. This location is also best for those seeking seclusion during a nail treatment–the downtown mani station is in the spa lobby while the pedi station is separated from the lobby by a thin curtain.)
This past week, I made the most of my rediscovered gift certificate with a visit to the downtown location for a Milk + Honey facial with Lauren. My skin, which has always given me a lot of trouble, started showing signs of distress during the bar exam that have persisted long after the exam-related stress disappeared. Since the treatment at M+H, my skin is showing signs of life again (kudos to Lauren!). I left M+H feeling relaxed and recharged.
I love to support Milk + Honey because of the excellent service and McCombs MBA connection. A M+H treatment was a pick-me-up after my first set of 1L finals, a gift from a loved boyfriend during my second year in Austin, an opportunity to decompress after a busy trip to China and Hong Kong, and a reward after completing my first half marathon. A special place tied to many of the significant events of my four-plus years in Austin, M+H will be missed when I head back to California.
