Michigan / Ross MBA Interview Questions 2011

We’re continuing to get interview reports for the Clear Admit Wiki as the Round 2 interview season continues.  This week, a candidate for Michigan / Ross shared this off-campus Round 2  interview with an alumnus:

“I interviewed with a Ross alumni at the corporate headquarters where he worked in a nearby city. The interview was about 45 minutes long, with his questions occupying the first 35 minutes and the last 10 minutes spent on my questions about Ross and my interviewer’s experience there.

Overall, the interview was more formal than some other ones than I’ve had but was fairly conversational. I list the questions (in chronological order as I remember it) below.

  1. Tell me about your college experience – how did you choose your majors, describe your extracurricular experiences, etc.
  2. Tell me about how you ended up at your current job – internships, interests, etc.
  3. Discuss your work responsibilities and roles.
  4. Tell me about the most constructive criticism you’ve received at work.
  5. Tell me about a time you failed at work.
  6. What are you most proud of/what is your most significant accomplishment? (personal or professional)
  7. Why are you pursuing an MBA?
  8. Why Ross?
  9. What interests you about professional services? (currently work in consulting and hope to work in consulting post-MBA)
  10. Do you have any questions for me?

I came out of my interview comfortable but not overly optimistic. I received my admissions invite this morning. Good luck to everyone!”
