Chances are there will be a bit of down time during your interview day, so be prepared to wait. For some of you it will be too much time; for others it will not be enough. Making everyone happy is difficult. Bring a book along so you can catch up on some pleasure reading. If you are asked the question, “What is the last book you read?” you will then be able to provide a quick answer.
Take advantage of this opportunity. This may also be a great time to do some of the things mentioned previously: sit in on classes, look over the campus, go to the library, grab a coffee in the cafeteria, visit the student lounge, etc. Use this time to learn more about whether or not you can realistically see yourself as happy at this medical school.
This post is excerpted from 101 Tips on Getting Into Medical School by Jennifer C. Welch, who has served as the Director of Admissions at SUNY Upstate Medical School since 2001.
