This year’s Global Full-Time MBA rankings from The Economist were recently published, with Chicago’s Booth School of Business taking the top spot and North American schools taking seven of the top ten places on the list. This year’s list sees many changes, partly attributed to the tough job market. (Career opportunities and salaries for graduates hold a combined weight of 55% in these rankings.) European MBA programs seem to be affected more – with average GMAT scores and starting salaries for graduates dropping more than those of American MBA programs. In fact, GMAT scores seem to be up for many American MBA Programs, including Chicago Booth.
We at mbaMission advise applicants to view rankings with a healthy dose of skepticism, as they tend to fluctuate dramatically from year to year and from publication to publication. The Economist uses a variety of methods for calculating their rankings, mainly using data collected from students and alumni, which is unlike other popular MBA rankings.
