After spending more than three decades at Harvard, HBS Sylvan C. Coleman Professor of Financial Management, Peter Tufano will be the next Dean of Oxford’s Said Business School starting July 2011. Tufano has extensive experience blending finance, psychology, sociology, history and management, and has brought consumer finance into the classroom by creating a joint HBS and Harvard Law School offering on the topic. On top of his work as an educator, he is a social entrepreneur, founding the nonprofit organization Doorways to Dreams, and a published author with research on risk management, financial engineering and mutual funds. Tufano is not the only HBS professor making moves to other business schools – former London Business School dean and Harvard marketing professor John Quelch will become the dean of Ceibs, the Shanghai business school, starting February 2011.
