The Tobaccowala Foundation of India has donated $1 million to the University of Chicago Booth School of Business to provide a new scholarship for students from India. The scholarship is in memory of Akhtarali H. Tobaccowala (1952 Booth) who was director of Tata Group, chairman of Voltas Ltd, and founder of Impact India. The Tobaccowala Foundation wants to provide opportunities for more students from India to “learn from the world class Chicago Booth faculty.” Full-time Booth MBA students are eligible if their primary home is in India at the time the scholarship is received and can apply on Booth’s website. This scholarship will certainly be popular as more Booth MBAs are from India than any other country outside the U.S.
