Whether you have recently completed your MBA and are looking for work, or your searching for an internship this year at your dream consulting firm, a recent resume website reminds all jobseekers not to forget to think out-of-the-box.
Matthew Epstein decided that he wanted to be a part of Google’s project marketing team. Se he created a hilarious website called http://googlepleasehire.me/. He then posted a video on the site, explaining his love for “product marketing and digital strategy,” while talking about his stick-on mustache that “makes angels weep.” An article in TheJournal.ie (“Google! Please hire me!”) said Matthew also mailed Google a life-size cardboard cut out of himself holding a paper directing Google’s HR department to his website. Apparently Google has contacted him for an interview.
While it is not recommended that all jobseekers don a fake mustache and launch resume videos about their love for pedicures and facial hair, Epstein’s bold move is a reminder that there is always more you can do than just e-mailing a resume.
Bottom line: If you want a job, get creative!
