One of the major law student pet peeves seems to be the presence of loud undergrads (read: they walk around in noisy flip flops–how dare they!) in the law library during finals period.
UT has never done much to keep the undergrads out of the law library. But this year, with ongoing construction already making quiet space in the law library scarce, the powers that be seem to believe that there just isn’t room to accommodate the undergrads anymore. From a Student Affairs e-mail distributed on Friday:
Beginning Monday, May 3rd, a student ID will be required to enter the Library after 2pm. Only Law students will be allowed entry. IDs will be checked from 2 – 10pm by an employee stationed just within the entrance to the Library. Upon your initial entry, your ID will be scanned to verify your status as a Law student and your ID will be tagged so that you can thereafter enter more quickly. If you notice anyone studying who you know or suspect to not be a Law student, please notify an employee of the Library.
You may also stop by the Dean’s suite in TNH 2.118 to have your ID tagged.
