Last week sources in the IIM-A revealed that the number of students taking the CAT examination has gone down for the current year. “As against 2.76 lakh CAT applicants in 2008, we could make it to nearly 2 lakh by October 1, 2009. The number of applicants choosing Ahmedabad as their first option stood at 2.13 lakh last year. But looking at the current situation, this number might remain less than last year,” said sources in the IIM-A.
The online registration process for CAT was to be conducted from September 9 to October 1. But a number of bank holidays during this period had raised concerns of the CAT committee which extended the deadline for the registration process by another 10 days, to October 11, 2009. The sale of CAT vouchers at designated Axis Bank branches has also been extended untill October 8, 2009.
