Just Keep Swimming

The semester has hit its stride.

  • Problem Sets – After my initial skepticism about the assignment of problem sets in my Corporations class, I’m won over. There is no way (NO WAY) I would have spent so many hours with my statutory supplement this early in the semester if it hadn’t been for the last couple of problem sets.
  • Midterms – My first exam is scheduled for the week after next. I’m happy to say that I’ve finished all the reading that will be tested. Looks like I’ll be able to spend the next couple weeks studying powerpoint slides and notes. I hardly know what to do with all this time (I’m a procrastinator to my core under normal circumstances).
  • Reading – I’m up to date or ahead in about half my classes, but not terribly behind in the others. Here’s hoping I’ll catch up this weekend.
  • Law Journal – Another issue appeared in print this week. Almost done with my board responsibilities!
  • Confusion – Yup, tax is already taking its toll. Anyone want to recommend a good study guide for Corporate Tax?
  • Sleep – Getting a reasonable amount of sleep except for the night before the problem set was due. I had some serious trouble keeping my eyes open the next day, which–of course!–meant that my Socratic card was pulled in my early morning class.
  • Employment – I’m working twelve hours a week. It’s going well so far. I’m keeping my toes wet in case I have to rely on this job for income after graduation (thanks, Summer Firm, for waiting until May 2009 to confirm compensation and stipend policies).
  • Swimming – I’ve kept swimming, which has been great for stress management. While I swim from one end of the pool to the other I soak up the silence. Sometimes I think about what I’m learning in class . . . a lot of ideas seem to gel this way. Other times I think about nothing at all (what a luxury!).
