The folklore in law school makes bar exam preparation out to be epic, extraordinary torture. I started preparing today, but I reserve judgment on the whole bar exam prep ordeal until after the exam.
Meanwhile, I’m going to keep a record of the experience.
So, Day1.
We began by attempting fifty multiple choice questions, all of them pertaining to Torts. I got an “A” in Torts as a 1L, but–four years later–the only torts I remember much about are assault, battery, and negligence. Turns out I’ve forgotten (or in some cases never learned) about the following:
- Intentional/Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress
- Intentional/Unintentional/Accidental Entries
- False Imprisonment
- Attractive Nuisance Doctrine
- Res Ipsa Loquitur
- Strict Liability
- Negligent Misrepresentation
- Nuisance
- Defamation
- Slander
- Intentional Interference with Contractual Relations
- Invasion of Right to Privacy
If my review list is this long for a subject I did relatively well in during law school, I shudder to think of what it will be like when we start on Evidence (a subject that I never took in law school).
The day of reckoning has arrived, y’all. I will spend the next six weeks scrambling to make up for the fact that I spent the last four years avoiding any and all things related to litigation.
And those fifty multiple choice questions I attempted this morning?
26 correct.
