A frequent reader of this blog, CS, a prospective student from South Korea, recently asked me a question regarding opportunities that are available to Tuckies who are interested in international business. Instead of responding to him one-on-one, I figured I could make this the topic of my next blog post, and here it is.
CS, thanks for reaching out. Let me start by saying that business school experience is basically whatever you want it to be. The initiative is yours to take; you are in the driver’s seat, and the school will help you navigate whatever it is you want to get out of your time at Tuck. In your case, since you enquired specifically about international business opportunities, I’ll give you a targeted response.
There are several complementary ways in which students can get international business experience at Tuck.
1) Exchange programs: Tuck has a relationship with more than 20 business schools worldwide. Tuckies who express a genuine interest in getting exposure to how business is done in other countries / continents can pick a school of their choice and the administration will do its best to get them to that school for a term. I am a beneficiary of this program myself and will be heading to Paris this coming weekend to pursue an exchange program at HEC School of Management.
2) Tuck Global Consultancy (FSIB): I explained this in some detail in my previous blog post. I am currently in India and will be wrapping up phase 2 of my project in the next few days. This has been a truly fantastic experience for me personally since I’ve never worked in India before and this experience has given me an unprecedented opportunity to see business being done within the ecosystem as a whole, while also giving me an up close and personal view of the country, the opportunities, and challenges facing businesses in India.
