How did I decide to come to Tuck?

I know it would be more interesting to say that it was a really tough choice for me to decide to attend Tuck, that although I really liked Tuck I was not sure if coming here would be the right choice but, after careful consideration there was some specific cultural fact about Tuck, or a certain conversation with a current student or, something about life in a beautiful town like Hanover that convinced me.
Unfortunately I can’t say that, for me to choose Tuck was as easy as adding one plus one. In a way – I’ll try to explain in the next lines-Tuck became my number one choice very early in the application process.

As I said before, it was early on in my application process when I found out about Tuck, as many of the prospective students I signed up to attend MBA fairs and to receive schools’ information. I received a brochure from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and was extremely impressed with the school. Tuck is not very popular back at Peru, nonetheless I had heard about it from several well respected people. I carefully read all the information sent, I review the web page and I started asking friends and relatives what where they opinions about that school.

What impressed me the most was the emphasis it made in a close-knit community. I really liked the fact that being so far away from home I was going to feel at “home” surrounded by people that care about me and were willing to help me out in whatever I needed. Also important to me was the size of the class, I didn’t want a huge class were one gets lost in the crowd and is hard to meet everybody and get to know the professors; I wanted a close relationship with my teachers and classmates. Another important factor was that Tuck has a very strong general management program and, I wanted a general management program.

What closed the deal was my visit to Hanover. I fell in love not only with the town, but with the people; everybody at the program office was extremely nice, the admissions people were the best and, the students where extremely helpful and you could tell that they were proud of their school. After coming back from my visit to Hanover I knew where I wanted to be: I wanted to be at Tuck.
