Generous Alumni Gift Will Enhance INSEAD’s International Entrepreneurship Center

Last month, leading international business school INSEAD announced that is has received a €5 million alumni gift to directly benefit entrepreneurship research and teaching at the school.

The generous donation from an alumnus was specifically designated to further the work of the Rudolf and Valeria Maag International Centre for Entrepreneurship (Maag ICE), which was founded in 2003 to establish INSEAD as a leader in entrepreneurship research, teaching and outreach. With a commitment to “building businesses in a global world,” the Maag ICE supports INSEAD faculty, students and alumni in entrepreneurial initiatives and unites entrepreneurship stakeholders from around the globe.

“INSEAD was founded on an entrepreneurial vision and this spirit continues today through the engagement and generous support of our alumni and global partners,” Filipe Santos, a professor of entrepreneurship and director of the Maag ICE, said in a statement. The Maag Center is a catalyst for establishing INSEAD as the world’s leading business school for entrepreneurship, he added.

INSEAD, with campuses in France, Singapore and Abu Dhabi, offers a wide range of international entrepreneurship opportunities for its students. In addition to 20 MBA electives focused on developing new businesses in a global world, the school also features an Entrepreneurship Accelerator dedicated to supporting the entrepreneurial projects of its MBA students, an entrepreneurs-in-residence program and an annual INSEAD Business Venture Competition.

Additionally, in September 2010, the school will launch a Social Entrepreneurship Catalyst (SE Catalyst), which will provide networking opportunities, events and workshops for students focused on subjects and careers related to starting a social venture, social impact investing, etc.
