And welcome back to Fridays From the Frontline, Clear Admit’s ongoing dive into the depths of the deliriously detailed lives of MBA aspirants and current students. Seven days never goes by quite as fast as in the b-school blogosphere. Each week, additional applications are worked upon, and orientation and class schedules are determined. This week was no exception, aspirants continue to deal with drafting essays and aiming high for GMAT exams while first year and returning students begin to adjust to school life.
Steve took another GMAT practice test and found that he scored pretty consistently, even without as much strenuous study. Ellipser prepared to attend Tuck, NYU and Ross events in the coming days. MBAYogi slept less in the days leading up to his GMAT exam, but felt good about it. MBA Dreamz found another reason to go to Harvard: dates. A. worked on his essays and found inspiration in the story of Abraham Lincoln’s life. Raj struggled with Ross’ fourth essay and attended information sessions for Fuqua and Wharton. Sanket shared photographs from his visit to ISB’s campus.
Columbia ’12 Praz presented his thoughts on career management. NYU ’12 Nistha expressed her opinion on how important location is to a business school choice. IMD ’11 Howie planned to represent his school for Business Week and envied his wife’s time at the Minnesota State Fair. Babson ’12 Shubha outlined the jam packed schedule of his day. MIT ’12 Paul responded to questions about whether being a consultant is a disadvantage for an applicant. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy shared the details of his mystery KWEST trip to Jordan.
Darden ’11 Matt attended his first consulting club meeting of the year and wondered if Darden didn’t provide almost too many career planning activities to first years. Boston ’11 Felish asked a number of questions of her readers, such as ‘Why does school start on the Thursday before Labor Day? Does this not make sense to anyone else?‘ Kellogg ’11 Shobhit found himself responding to many prospective students’ questions and commented on the value of informed networking. Wake Forest ’11 Omne checked in after a four month silence to briefly discuss his trip to China, his summer internship and what his plan for his second year was going to be. McDonough ’11 Part-Timer attended his first course of the new semester: financial markets. Darden ’11 Julie found herself unsure of how to proceed in her second year after the rigid first year schedule. Kellogg ’11 D.G. continued to put together his business, though he was running short on time.
And that’s the news for this week. As the days of summer dwindle, Clear Admit hopes that new students adjust to their new surroundings and that second years soak up every sun filled moment of late summer on their respective campuses. Until next week, have a great weekend!
