Friday Factoid: UCLA Anderson Sustains

Applicants to UCLA-Anderson may be well aware of the school’s strength in media and real estate, but they might be surprised to learn that Anderson also offers a cutting-edge multidisciplinary program for students interested in environmental sustainability. The Leaders in Sustainability (LiS) Program is a certificate program in which MBA students must take the LiS core course plus at least three other sustainability-related courses; of the latter, at least two must be taught outside the student’s primary graduate school. These students also participate in leadership training along with graduate students from such disciplines as law, public health and engineering. In addition, LiS students work together on projects serving businesses, nonprofits and government clients. Moreover, mbaMission has learned that UCLA-Anderson hired a sustainability coordinator and has established positions for two sustainability chairs in each first-year section and one for second-year students. Business school may in fact be a window into the future…
