Close to Silicon Valley, which is arguably the technology capital of the world, the Stanford Graduate School of Business is well known for developing leaders in the technology and its tech investment. The GSB is not as well known for its investment in resources dedicated to the manufacturing sector, which include the Global Supply Chain Management Forum and the Product Realization Network (formerly the Alliance for Innovative Manufacturing). The Global Supply Chain Management Forum brings together researchers who document, develop and propagate innovation and best practices in global supply chain management. The Product Realization Network is a group of faculty and industry professionals dedicated to educating students about the creation of products. The network brings students together with professionals in the manufacturing industry for experiential opportunities that include site visits, guest lectures, workshops and internships. Supply chain is a management niche — one which can be “filled” at Stanford.
