Fall A is Complete – What’s Next?

The academic structure at Tuck is a rigorous one measured on any scale. As first years, we have a two-part fall structure, affectionately known as “Fall A” & “Fall B.” In the first four-week term, we have four classes (statistics, analysis for general managers, leading individuals and teams, and managerial economics). So, as you can imagine, learning how to interpret a multiple regression and building confidence intervals in a week’s time isn’t necessarily the easiest of tasks.

However, just like a Phoenix rises from the ashes, the T’12 class rose from the dreaded Stats and ManEc finals and finally completed our first term! The gracious admin staff at Tuck gives us a break following the strenuous Fall A, and there are a lot of things that occur during this time.

I’m sure that many of you looking at schools will scan a few website items more often than not – financial aid and tuition (obviously), admission criteria, and of course, the career section. And I’m also sure that any schools in which you’re interested will have a fairly consistent theme; close to 60% the class (62% of T’09s to be exact) go into consulting or financial services. That being said, fall break is a great time for those Tuckies interested to visit a lot of the companies that will hire them for internships during the summer. There are a number of “treks” that students attend, including the Wall Street trek (NYC), Consulting Trek (Boston, NYC), & Marketing Trek (NYC). There are also treks to Washington DC (nonprofit) and to the West Coast (tech) and even to London that take place throughout the year.

So while you think you have a break after Fall A, THINK AGAIN because Fall B is right around the corner, and you came to Tuck to learn, socialize, and perhaps (most importantly), GET A JOB! :)
