By now, you’ve heard all about how Tuck is a close-knit community, how the alumni are so responsive and supportive, and how they reminisce about the two years they spent at Tuck. May be, you also wondered how much this really is the case and how approachable Tuck alumni are.
In my previous blog, I had mentioned I am working in New York for the summer at a private equity firm. Turns out my boss, who is a partner in the firm, is a close friend of a couple of Tuck alumni (who had graduated from Tuck more than 15 years back). They were at the firm yesterday to take care of business and our conversation turned to Tuck and life in Hanover. It so happened they didn’t have any lunch plans, so I ended up going out for lunch with them and continued the conversation. I was pleasantly surprised that they actually remembered some of the case studies they did at Tuck (after 15+ years of graduating!), spoke fondly about the courses they took, the professors that taught them, and what some of their classmates were doing. Towards the end of the conversation, they told me not to hesitate to reach out to them in case I needed any advice. One of them in fact offered to have me over at his place for dinner before the summer is over. As I walked back to work, I just couldn’t stop thinking about the delightful conversation I had just minutes ago.
What more can I say? The Tuck network is indeed real, and truly special!
