Was in Chinatown this weekend and saw this strange-looking, but cool “nature’s candy” at one of the fruit stalls.
Was curious, so I decided to buy a few. If you don’t know what it is, this member of the cactus species even has a cool name- dragon fruit- maybe because it looks like a dragon’s egg. The English/scienfitic name is red pitaya or hylocereus undatus.
This is what the inside looks like.
As for how it tastes, it’s sour and refreshing. The tiny black seeds were hard and nutty. At $3 per pound, it is not the cheapest fruit out there. On appearance, I give it a grade of A. On taste, a solid B.
The shirts are here! They arrive sooner than I expected. After trying them on, everyone liked their shirts a lot, except one because the size wasn’t right. So I will have to send one Large back in exchange for an XXLarge. It’s ok though. There’s still plenty of time till race day. And after some research, I decided to go with custom embroidered patches. The catch is that the place I’m ordering them from doesn’t do the sewing, just the patches. But I think I might know a FIT student that will do it for free. Well, maybe not for free. Probably for dinner and drinks. My company will just have to reimburse me-for my time as well of course. We all have to make sacrifices right?
