Hey Guys!
Ellen here with my first blog post EVER! Looking forward to sharing “All -Things -Tuck” (the Ellen edition) with you over the next year.
A quick introduction: I’m a happy, high energy chic with a love of the outdoors and I come to Tuck from a background in Civil Engineering. A graduate from The Ohio State University, I love Buckeyes (the football playing kind, the TBDBITL kind, AND the chocolate/peanut butter kind). I’m a young-ish MBA student of 26, a representative of the midwest, a career-switcher, and a consulting summer intern hopeful.
As I’m sure my fellow Tuck Bloggers have mentioned, it’s been a whirlwind of activity at school over the last three weeks. But, I’ll let THEM tell you about all the top notch educational experiences we’ve been having. What I want to tell you about is…HOCKEY!
Most of us have never played before, but in the midst of figuring out how to make it through our first year, we’re out buying used hockey gear and learning how to do hockey stops at 11pm on a Monday night! Why? After last night’s Draft Party (where 2nd Year Captains announced our team assignments) I realize that:
1. Tuck = Community –> and learning to play hockey brings the family together (especially when 2nd year’s help you get your shoulder pads on/off)
2. Tuck = Hardcore –> hockey lets us be competitive and supportive at the same time (usually, around midnight)
3. Tuck = Growth –> a once in a lifetime chance to do things you’ve never done before
Hockey captures the essence of the Tuck MBA — our atmosphere of community, our hardcore approach to working hard and supporting each other, our dedication to growing as leaders and friends. I feel so lucky and proud to have the next 2 years of Tuck challenges ahead of me — and, of course, to be able to say, heck yeah, I play hockey!
Cheers!
~Ellen
